Project Rwanda (PR) will be the second overseas project of OA, and we plan to exceed what was achieved in Ecuador (www.vicsoccer.givemeaning.com).
PR will be a project created by local communities, here, and carried out by a select group of young leaders, there. These young leaders will work with (rather than for) the local communities in order to develop sustainable projects that are harmonious with the people, spirit, and environment of Rwanda.
PR will focus on improving the soccer infrastructure in Rwanda. This will be achieved by building soccer fields, by working with the local communities to develop programs and by providing a large amount of soccer equipment.
Our fundraising goal at GiveMeaning will start at $10,000.
Funds will be distributed among such tasks as field construction, distribution of equipment, and other sub-projects that arise (e.g. help with school fees). Every single step of the initiatives in Rwanda will involve the local communities in order to ensure that what is done is in perfect harmony with the customs and needs of the communities as well as with the local environment.
Our goal is to have financial resources that will enable us to a) be flexible in our logistics and real-time decision-making and b) not only make a significant, initial impact but also develop a framework to provide sustainable, long-lasting positive effects, within the local communities of Rwanda.
A documentary of the project will be created with the purpose of furthering our message that small differences, by many people, will lead to substantial, positive change.
Along with a feature documentary, we will integrate video webepisodes, blogging, and podcasts to generate attention and to proliferate our message that everyday people, everywhere, have the power to inspire change.
